Getting started
What is Famously?
Famously is a social networking platform and creator marketplace. You can discover and follow people, share and engage with their content, and book private one-to-one video calls with professionals — paid, and scheduled around their real availability.
Getting started
Who is Famously for?
Everyone. Professionals and experts who take paid calls, content creators who share and earn from their work, and people who simply want to keep up with the ones they admire. You can join with a personal account and do all of it except take paid calls — that needs a professional account.
Getting started
Is Famously free?
Yes. Creating an account, following people, posting, commenting and messaging are all free. You only pay when you book a call with a professional, and the full price is shown before you confirm.
Getting started
Which languages does Famously support?
English and Arabic. You can switch in Settings.
Getting started
How do I download the app?
Famously is on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Search for "Famously", or open famously.app/get on your phone and we'll send you to the right store.
Accounts & privacy
What's the difference between a personal account and a professional account?
A personal account can do everything social: browse, follow, post, like, comment, message and share. A professional account can do all of that and also publish availability, take paid video calls and earn from them. Becoming a professional requires identity verification and our approval.
Accounts & privacy
How old do I need to be?
You must be at least 13 to create an account. If you're 13 to 17, you can use Famously only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. You must be 18 or older — or the age of majority where you live — to pay for calls, hold a professional account, earn income or request a withdrawal.
Accounts & privacy
Can I make my account private?
Yes. With a private account, people send a follow request and you choose whether to approve it. Only approved followers see your posts and Stories.
Accounts & privacy
Who can send me messages?
You decide, in Settings. Messages from people you don't follow arrive as requests, kept separately from your inbox, so you can accept or decline before anything lands in your conversations.
Accounts & privacy
How do I block someone, and what does blocking do?
Open their profile or your conversation with them and choose Block. It takes effect immediately: they can no longer follow you, see your content, or message you. You can also block someone in the same step as reporting them.
Accounts & privacy
I haven't received my verification email or login code.
Check your spam or junk folder first — the email comes from famously.app. For a phone code, make sure the number includes the right country code and wait a minute before requesting another. If it still hasn't arrived, open a support ticket from Settings › Report a Problem in the app, or email info@famously.app with the email or number you used. Replies to a ticket reach you by notification and email.
Accounts & privacy
Someone is using my name or brand as their username. Can I claim it?
Yes. You can submit a claim on the web at famously.app/claim-username, or in the app from Settings › Report a Problem by choosing "Username claim". Either way, say which username you're claiming and attach proof of ownership — a government ID matching the name, or a trademark or business registration for a brand. We review every claim. Where it's valid, we transfer the username to you and notify the current holder. Impersonation is handled under the same process and may also lead to action against the impersonating account.
Accounts & privacy
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Profile › Settings › Delete Account. You can also email info@famously.app. We then remove or de-identify your personal data and content, except what we're required to keep for legal, tax, fraud-prevention or dispute reasons, and content others have already shared. Any eligible unpaid earnings can still be paid out after verification.
Booking a call
How do I book a call with a professional?
Open their profile and tap Book Call. Pick a slot from their published availability, review the price, and confirm. The professional accepts the request, and the call appears in your Calls with its date and time.
Booking a call
When can I join the call?
The Join button becomes available five minutes before the scheduled start. Both of you wait in the call room and it connects at the start time.
Booking a call
What happens if I miss my call?
If the professional joins and you don't, the call is recorded as a no-show and your payment is not refunded — it's credited to the professional for the time they kept for you. If the professional doesn't join either, you're refunded in full.
Booking a call
Can I cancel or reschedule a booking?
Yes, from the call's page, as long as it hasn't started.
Cancelling: you get a full refund if you cancel before the professional has accepted, or within five minutes of them accepting. After that, cancelling a call they've committed to is non-refundable. If the professional cancels, you're always refunded in full.
Rescheduling: propose a new time from the call and the professional accepts or declines it. Your payment carries over — nothing new is charged — and the five-minute window starts again from their new acceptance.
Booking a call
Can I extend a call once it's started?
Yes, if the professional allows extensions. When five minutes remain, an Extend option appears — provided the professional's next slot is free. You request the extra time, they approve it, and only then are you charged. In the final moments the option is withdrawn, because there's no longer time for the approval and payment to complete before the call ends.
Booking a call
Can I share a document with the professional during a call?
Yes. You can share PDF documents and JPG or PNG images for them to review during the call. Only share what you're allowed to share — you're responsible for the content.
Booking a call
Are calls recorded?
No. Calls are private and Famously never records them — not routinely, and not when a report is filed. Screen recording and screenshots are blocked inside a call to protect both participants.
Payments & refunds
How do I pay for a call?
You pay the listed price directly with a credit or debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Payments are processed by UPayments, our payment provider; Famously doesn't store your card details. There's no wallet, credit or in-app currency to top up.
Payments & refunds
When am I charged?
When the professional accepts your booking. Until then nothing is taken from your card.
Payments & refunds
The professional didn't show up. Do I get a refund?
Yes — in full, to the payment method you used. If a professional doesn't join a scheduled and paid call, or leaves it early, the refund is automatic and you're notified.
Payments & refunds
Can I get a refund after a completed call?
Generally no. Once a call has taken place, the payment is final, except where the law where you live requires otherwise. If something went wrong during the call, contact us and we'll look into it.
Payments & refunds
I think I've been charged incorrectly.
Open a support ticket from Settings › Report a Problem, or email info@famously.app, with the call details — before raising a chargeback with your bank, so we can investigate and correct it. Chargebacks on legitimate charges may lead to account restrictions.
For professionals — getting set up
How do I get a professional account?
Sign up, then from your Profile request a professional account. You'll be asked for identity documents and, where relevant, professional credentials. Our team reviews every application; once approved, your profile shows the verified badge and you can publish availability and take paid calls.
For professionals — getting set up
How can I become a verified account?
A verified account is a professional account our team has reviewed and approved. It carries the verified badge, can take paid video calls, and earns through FAMO.
To apply, in the app:
Open Settings and tap Switch to Professional.
Choose your categories.
Upload a government-issued ID, and any certificates or licences.
Add links to your other accounts (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, your website).
Review the summary and submit.
Before you apply, make sure your email and phone number are verified, your profile has a photo of you and a bio, you have posted at least once, and your links point to accounts that are clearly yours. You qualify on one of two tracks: a linked social account with 5,000 or more followers, or a certificate or licence relevant to your category.
Applications are usually reviewed within one to three business days, and you will get a notification and an email either way. Once approved, set your availability and rate in Settings to start taking calls.
Check the full eligibility requirements before you apply.
For professionals — getting set up
What does the verified badge mean?
That the account passed our professional verification — we checked identity and, where applicable, credentials. It isn't an endorsement of any advice, product or service the professional provides.
For professionals — getting set up
How long does verification take?
Usually one to three business days. We'll notify you in the app as soon as a decision is made.
For professionals — getting set up
How do I set my availability?
From Availability in the app, set the hours you can be booked — every day, by weekday, or for specific dates — and choose your slot length, from 10 to 60 minutes. Only the slots you publish can be booked.
For professionals — getting set up
How do I set my price?
You set your own per-slot rate, from a minimum of $50 up to $1,000 USD. Guests always see the full price before they confirm, and you see your payout after Famously's fee before you publish.
If your practice needs a higher rate, send a request from Settings › Report a Problem choosing "Rate increase" — include your proposed rate and the reason — and our team will review it. Approved rates are unlocked on your account.
For professionals — getting set up
Can I turn calls or extensions off?
Yes. In Settings you can pause taking calls entirely, and separately choose whether guests are allowed to request paid extensions during a call.
For professionals — earnings & payouts
What fee does Famously take?
Famously keeps a service fee from each paid call to cover operation, security, payment processing and administration. Your exact fee and payout rate are shown in the app before you publish a rate or confirm a call, and can vary by account or promotion. Unless you're shown otherwise, the default fee is 50% of the call price.
For professionals — earnings & payouts
How do payouts work?
Your earnings from completed calls build up as an available balance in the app. Once it reaches the minimum shown there, you can request a withdrawal to the bank account you've set up. Withdrawals are requested from the app.
For professionals — earnings & payouts
How long does a withdrawal take?
Approved withdrawals are usually transferred within 5–7 business days. Your bank, the payment processor and any verification checks can affect the timing. Make sure your payout details are accurate — funds sent to incorrect details you've entered may be lost or delayed.
For professionals — earnings & payouts
Can I arrange payment outside the app?
No. Taking payment for calls outside Famously to avoid the fee is a breach of the Terms and can lead to withheld earnings and account termination.
For professionals — earnings & payouts
Do I have to pay tax on my earnings?
You're responsible for determining and paying any tax due on what you earn. Famously may ask for tax information, and may withhold or report amounts where the law requires it.
For professionals — earnings & payouts
What happens if a guest doesn't join my call?
You're paid. If you join the call and the guest doesn't, it's recorded as a guest no-show and the full amount is credited to your earnings. You do need to actually join and stay in the call room for the scheduled time — a professional who doesn't join is the one who gets refunded against.
Earning as a creator
What is the Creator Rewards Program?
A programme that pays you for genuine engagement with your content — views on videos and FAMO drops, and likes on photos. It's open to every account, not only professionals. The current rates and a worked example are always at famously.app/monetization, read live from the same settings the payouts use.
Earning as a creator
When can I withdraw my rewards?
Rewards accrue while your content is live, then mature for 30 days before they become withdrawable. Each post has a maximum it can earn. Rewards obtained through fake engagement or other breaches of the Terms can be withheld or reversed.
Earning as a creator
How does the referral programme work?
Share your referral link. When someone joins through it and takes a qualifying action — such as following you within the attribution window — you earn a reward. The details, amounts and windows are shown in the app and may change.
Posts, Stories & FAMO
What's the difference between a post, a Story and a FAMO drop?
A post stays on your profile until you remove it. A Story is visible to your followers for 24 hours. A FAMO drop is a short video that you choose to keep live for 24, 48 or 72 hours — then it's gone from the feed.
Posts, Stories & FAMO
Who can see my Stories?
Your followers. Stories aren't public — if your account is private, only approved followers see them.
Posts, Stories & FAMO
When a Story or FAMO drop expires, is it deleted everywhere?
It disappears from the app for everyone. We can't guarantee it's gone from every system — backups, copies others saved, or content kept for an investigation — and expiry doesn't stop someone capturing it before it expires.
Posts, Stories & FAMO
Can I edit a post after publishing?
You can edit the caption of a post from the post's menu. The photo or video itself can't be changed — delete the post and publish it again.
Posts, Stories & FAMO
Do hashtags work in Arabic?
Yes. Arabic hashtags are recognised and searchable exactly like English ones.
Safety & support
How do I report content or a person?
Every post, Story, FAMO drop, profile and message has a Report option in its menu. Choose the reason and submit — reporting from the content itself attaches it to your report so we can act quickly. You can block the account in the same step.
Safety & support
I have a child safety concern.
Report it from the content using "Child Safety Concern" — it's the first option in the list — or email info@famously.app. These reports are reviewed ahead of everything else. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first; you never need our permission to do so. Our full standards are at famously.app/child-safety.
Safety & support
What's not allowed on Famously?
Sexual content, anything that sexualises minors, hate, harassment, threats, discrimination, illegal activity, fraud, impersonation, doxxing, spam and attempts to game rewards or payments. Violations can mean removed content, withheld earnings and permanent termination — and serious ones are reported to law enforcement. The full policy is in our Terms.
Safety & support
How do I contact support?
In the app, open Settings › Report a Problem to start a support ticket — you'll get replies by notification and email, and can continue the conversation in the app. You can also email info@famously.app. Both reach a person.
Safety & support
Where can I read the Terms and Privacy Policy?
At famously.app/terms and famously.app/privacy, in English and Arabic. Our Child Safety Standards are at famously.app/child-safety and the Creator Rewards rate card at famously.app/monetization.
