Verification requirements

A Verified Professional account carries the verified badge, can take paid video calls, and earns through FAMO. Every application is reviewed by a person against the list below. Meeting it does not guarantee approval, and a strong reason can outweigh a missing item — but this is what we look for.

Who can apply

You need to qualify on one of the two tracks. One is enough.

Creator track — a public figure or content creator with a following

You are a well-known public figure, or a content creator with an established follower base: at least one social account with 5,000 or more followers that is clearly yours — same face, same name — and linked from your Famously profile. Followers that were bought, or an account that belongs to someone else, do not count.

Expert track — a licensed or certified professional

A certificate or licence relevant to the category you chose: a medical licence for a health category, a coaching certificate for coaching, a bar admission for legal advice. Upload it with your application.

You must be an adult

Professional accounts, paid calls and earnings are for people aged 18 or over, as set out in our Terms and Conditions.

Your profile

We check the account you apply from, not only the documents you attach. Before you apply, make sure your profile has:

A verified email address

Settings → Email & phone. Tap the verification link we send you.

A verified phone number

Settings → Email & phone. Enter the code we text you. A number typed on the profile without the code is not verified.

A profile photo of you

Your face, clearly visible, matching your ID. Not a logo, not a group shot, not a photo of someone else.

Your real name and a username

The name must match the ID you upload. The username is how people find you.

A bio that says what you do

At least a couple of sentences — 40 characters or more — describing what you offer, in the category you chose.

At least one post on Famously

A post or a FAMO drop. An empty profile tells us nothing about you.

Links to your other accounts

Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, X, LinkedIn, your website — up to five. These are how we confirm reach on the creator track and who you are on both.

What to submit

A government-issued ID

Civil ID, passport or national ID card. Up to five files, PDF, JPG or PNG, under 2 MB each. Make sure the name and the photo are readable.

Certificates and licences

Required on the expert track, optional on the creator track. Up to twenty files.

Your categories

Choose the specialities you actually work in. The evidence you attach should fit them.

What we check

Identity

The ID is valid and not expired, the name on it matches your profile name, and the photo on it is the person in your profile photo.

Your linked accounts are yours

We open every link. The account should show the same person, and on the creator track, at least one should meet the follower threshold.

The category fits

Your bio, your content and your credential should describe the same thing you are asking to be verified for.

One account, one person

Not a duplicate of another Famously account, and not impersonating a public figure, a brand or anyone else.

Good standing

No bans, no unresolved reports, and no spam behaviour on the account.

How to apply

In the app:

  1. Open Settings and tap Switch to Professional.
  2. Choose your categories.
  3. Upload your ID, and any certificates or licences.
  4. Add the links to your other accounts.
  5. Review the summary and submit.

What happens after

Applications are usually reviewed within one to three business days. You will get a notification and an email either way. Once approved, the verified badge appears on your profile straight away; to take paid calls, set your availability and your rate in Settings. Verification can be withdrawn if the account later breaks our guidelines.

If your application is declined

The reason is shown on your profile in the app, and you can fix it and reapply. To keep the review queue fair, there is a short wait between attempts:

  • First decline — reapply straight away.
  • Second decline — 15 minutes.
  • Third decline and after — 24 hours.
  • After five declines the account can no longer reapply on its own; write to us instead.
